Bracing for a major storm that's moving into Phoenix; might be the worst in over 25 years, with as much rain overnight as we often get in a year. Given a flat, low-lying area (we're in janitorial service in Phoenix AZ), we do not do well with even light sprinkles. Did some prep among our crews, and sent the following to our client base:
Dear CBN Client,
You've doubtless noticed that the National Weather Service is predicting 3 to 5 inches of rain tonight (Thursday). We've alerted our cleaning crews to start their routes as early as possible to avoid some of the likely flooding. However, between flooded streets and power failures, we'll likely be unable to service at least a few customers. If we miss you, we're sorry, and will make it up over the weekend.
We are also alerting our floor technicians to be available Friday morning to do quick carpet extractions under the occasional leaky roof - so, if you need help don't hesitate to call. Office 602-253-0656, and my cell is 602-695-3337.
Here's a note Phoenix sent to its employees:
The City is releasing a press briefing today to let the citizens know that we are prepared for whatever emergency may arise from the upcoming storm. The Weather Service is projecting rainfall from 5 to 10 inches starting midnight on Thursday night through Friday, with estimated winds of 60 miles per hour. This is more rain than we usually get for a whole year. You may want to make arrangements for communicating with family and friends over the next few days since it is common for electricity and cellular services to go out during a storm of this nature. The City is planning on conducting business as usual on Thursday and Friday. Ongoing updates can be found on Phoenix.gov.
So bring in the patio furniture, and close the windows!
