With flu season in full swing, and new critters coming out of China, the good folks at my health provider, Banner Health, sent out a useful article on how to distinguish between cold and flu, and some notes on treatment and precautions. Here's their handy guide to distinguishing the two:
From Banner's chief medical officer:
"Dr. Minior said people who have the flu will usually have a high fever, and they will feel achy and generally weak. They might have a cough with some associated chest pain. Sometimes, they may have a headache, sore throat or sinus pain.
When someone has a cold, he or she will be less likely to have a fever, according to Dr. Minior. He or she will likely have the classic symptoms of a cough and congestion and may have some shortness of breath."
In providing commercial janitorial, including to a number of healthcare facilities, we can only do so much - sanitizing touchpoints every visit, improving indoor air quality, and so on - you all must do the rest.
Me (after some nagging from a person who shall remain nameless) - I got my flu shot.
