Here's a study, just out, as reported by NPR: the corona virus can remain viable on some hard surfaces, for instance stainless steel, for72 hours. 24 hours on cardboard, less on fabric. Food seems to not be much of an issue, as the virus enters through the respiratory tract. The article include some thoughts on cleaning surfaces.
